REALITY CHECK WORKSHOP | PART I

A group of in-person and online participants immersed themselves in an environment where we discussed what motivated and blocked their writing process and how writing could potentially help to re-align their path(s) in life. This football themed workshop was inspired by a young football enthusiast who attended my previous goal setting workshop and moved me with his realization about self-love. I dedicated this workshop to him.

Curriculum

A booklet that walked the participants through the following:

  1. Learning about themself & their writing process

  2. Exploring their avenues of interests & how to use them to help with their writing

  3. Gaining clarity on what motivates or blocks their writing process

  4. Understanding the benefits of writing

Since this workshop was football themed, I requested to have a Part II done with actual football players who knew and played the game. I wanted them to help me enhance the workshop so this metaphor of using football to better grasp writing was easily understood.

During Part I, there was a participant, Cade Spinello who shared his incredible story about overcoming a brain tumor and stroke at five years old and how he’d become an inspiration for professional athletes across the nation.

After working with the Saddleback College football coach, the learning assistance specialist for athletes at the tutoring center and inviting Cade to speak at the next workshop, we assigned a date and piloted this workshop with five football players.
